Head Band Updo Hair Tutorial

The headband updo hair tutorial is super easy to do.

Yay, It's Pink wednesday!!

I really love having a day of the week pre-planned color wise! For today's mani, I wanted to try some more layering. So I first started with Nicole by OPI  You're An Angel.  The shimmer in this is so amazing, and NOT hidden at all. I did 3 coat.
I then added Pure Ice Rio
and using my Mash plate M64 & Pure Ice Silver Mercedes, I did this design :)

Make Cute & Quick Boho UpDo

A Valentine’s Day Bow Mani

OMG, girls! It’s almost Valentine’s Day! Do you know what you are going to do, what to wear and what kind of nail art you are going to put yet? Ok, ok don’t stress! If you don’t have any inspiration for your nails, just continue reading and get some inspiration from my Valentine’s Day Bow Mani. It is very easy to do, it won’t take too long to master (it’s done in a few steps), and I’m sure your date will love it! Ok, lets get started, shall we?

Since it’s Valentine’s Day, I opted for a red nail polish, so make sure you have a red nail polish in front of you, a base and top coat, a red glittery nail polish and some bow stickers. These are the steps:

Apply a base coat and let it dry. You always have to apply a base coat before applying any other nail polishes on your nails. Don’t forget to protect your nails girls! Apply a red nail polish on all nails and let it dry. I’m using the China Glaze #1018 Winter berry nail polish in this tutorial.
Apply a red glittery nail polish on 1/2 of your nails (see pictures in this blogpost). Let this dry and go further with the next step. I’m using the China Glaze #1019 Ring in the red.
Apply a cute golden bow sticker on each nail and press it with a toothpick a little bit. You can also draw bows on your nails with a toothpick or dotting pen if you don’t have bow stickers. Apply a top coat and let it dry.
Voila! Now you are finished and ready for Valentine’s Day!

The Reverse French Braid

The Reverse French Braid^
Although classic styles are a reliable go-to, every tradition needs a stylish update. A great example is the reverse french braid. While the classic french braid holds it’s own, this fun and quirky braid is a great version! See the steps below!

1:Start as you normally would with a french braid by taking a section of hair and dividing it into 3 strands.
2:As a second step, rather than placing the pieces over each other like a classic french braid, place them under each other. This is what will give your finished braid the ‘reverse’ look.
3:Continue braiding and, with each strand, gather hair from beneath and incorporate into your braid be sure to place each strand UNDER the other, not on top!)
4:Secure with an elastic!

BRINGING THE 80’S BACK

That’s right, the 80’s are back! With this fun twist on the popular 80’s crimped style, all of your friends will be green with envy.

How To:

1. Apply a medium hold blow dry gel, such as Redken Blown Away, to damp hair.

2. Blow dry hair with a medium round brush, lifting at root area for extra volume.

3. Once hair is completely dry, turn on a mini crimper to the lowest heat setting for your hair type.

4. Section hair into a top section (eyebrow to eyebrow), and secure with a clip. Take bottom section and brush down to center of the back of your head. Secure with a clear elastic as far down towards the ends as you can. Turn ends under, and tuck underneath. Secure with bobby pins.

WINTER 2013 HAIRSTYLE TRENDS FOR TEENS

How To:

1. After washing and conditioning hair with a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner, apply a medium hold styling cream or gel.

2. Blow dry hair with a flat paddle or vent brush on the straight side, and move to a medium to small round brush on the flipped side. When flipping ends out, place brush right against your head near the scalp, turn wrist to begin wrapping hair half way around brush and blow air from underneath. Slide round brush slowly down hair length while drying to avoid getting too flippy.

3. Set your flat iron to the lowest setting for your hair type, and section the back and side into two and secure with clips.  Bring down 1-inch sections and begin flat ironing, keeping the iron at a consistent speed and tension. Touch up any flips that may need some taming.

Updo How-To

French Twist Step:1 Gather hair into a ponytail between crown and nape, but don't anchor it.
French Twist Step:2 Twist the ponytail all around, twice.
French Twist Step:3 Tuck ends into twist and secure with bobby pins. Smooth out the rest of the hair by carefully brushing over the twist and securing strays.
French Twist Step :4The French twist is good for all face shapes, since you can customize by adjusting hair volume to flatter face shape.

Smokey Eyes Makeup Tutorial

12 Steps To Sultry:
1.Start with white shadow on the entire lid.  Choose a medium, smoky color for the lower lid.  Apply it three-quarters of the way up.
2.Continue to layer the color to make it darker.  Add a deeper color on top and in the crease to intensify the look.
3.Concentrate on the crease.  Continue to layer the shadow deeply enough to
create the dramatic effect.
4.Use your finger to soften the shadow.
5.Using pencil or dark shadow or liner, apply in smooth strokes moving from the outer to the inner corner of the eyelid.
6.To give the pencil line staying power, use a liner brush to sweep a layer of eye shadow over the pencil.
7.Reapply more shadow to add more definition.  Continue layering and checking for the effect you desire.
8.Line underneath the eye beginning at the outside corner, moving toward the inner corner.
9.Line as close to the lashes as possible.
10.Soften the line using a clean finger or Q-tip.

Look Amazingly Chic: How to Braid Your Hair Into a Pretty Flower

1. You can create this hairstyle with straight or curly hair.
2. I prefer it with curls, so start with making the curls! Use a heat protectant and curl enhancing product first and then section off your hair to make it easier to curl.
3. Begin with curling the bottom half of your hair. After you finish, curl the upper half. If your hair curls easily, take medium sections of hair using a medium size curling iron. If it is more difficult for your hair to hold a curl, take smaller sections of hair.
4. After you finish the curls, mist with a light hairspray to make the curls last.
5. Gently separate the curls with your fingers.
6. For a bit of volume, lightly tease the hair at your crown.
7. Take a piece of hair from the front, just above the ear. Make sure the hair is long enough for the braid. You may need to take more than just the fringe if the hair is a bit shorter than the rest.
8. Now create a normal three-strand braid and secure the end with an elastic.
9. Pull the braid apart a bit for added volume. Do the same on the other side!
10. Secure the two braids in the back with a small elastic.
11. Pull the braids a bit so the volume you created at the crown will stay.
12. With the end of your teasing comb or with your fingers, pull the hair above the braids up for extra volume.
13. Gently take the elastics off the ends of the braids.

Half-up braided crown

Whenever we did hair tutorials in the past, we got tons of comments requesting curly hair and short hair tutorials. So we've put together four new posts—two for curly hair and two for short hair. Thanks for the encouragement! Here, my hair-stylist friend Reagan, who has gorgeous curls, shows how to do a half-up braided crown. Here are her steps...

1. Part your hair down the middle, and gather together a large section of hair on one side. (I like to pull pieces down in the front so I have softness around my face.)
2-4. Braid the section. Start loosely at the top, working backwards in the direction that you want the braid to go (so rather than braiding straight down, you want to braid back, so the braid is at a slight slant). Secure with an elastic.
5. Repeat on the other side.
6-7. Cross the first braid behind your head so that the braid swoops down to the nape of your neck (it’s a more feminine, flattering and grown-up look than crossing it directly across the back of your head). Pin in place with bobby pins, making sure to tuck in the tail. (If your braid is quite long, you can fold the tail in half and tuck it behind the braid.)
8. Repeat on the other side.

The stunning overlapping technique is easy to achieve and looks remarkable on everyone. Give this eye-catching, trendy look a try and let us know what you think.
Step One: Take a small chunk of hair from above the ear.
Step Two: Take a bobby pin and insert it 3/4th’s of the way down your hair section.
Step Three: On the opposite side of your hair, take a chunk of about the same amount as your last one ( We’ll name this Section 2) and pull it in the opposite direction as Section 1.
Step Four: Section 2 should be overlapping section 1, as showed above.
Step Five: Take Section 2 and bobby pin it under Section 1.
Step Six: Take a new section (Let’s name it Section 3) of hair from under Section 1 and pull it over Section 2.

a Bun With No Elastic

How To :
- Gather the hair into a ponytail, wrapping one hand around the pony and another around the base of the hair.
- Holding tight to the pony, wrap the length of the hair around your hand, keeping your pointer finger through the loop.
- Once the hair is wrapped in a bun-like circle, pull the hair through the loop. You can use your pointer finger to hook and assist in the pull.
- Maintain the loop and wrap the remaining bit of hair down and back up through the loop to lock it in.

Boney Braid Hair Tutorial

Step 1:
Brush through all of the hair to untangle any knots and to ensure the hair is smooth before styling begins. If you are adding your hair extensions for thickness and length for this look then be sure to add these now.  You may need to play around with the placement of them so they are well disguised for styling or you could make it easier with a Wrap Around Ponytail.
Step 2:
Using your hair brush, pull back all of your hair into a neat ponytail. The ponytail should sit around the middle of your head, not too high and not too low!
Step 3:
Next, take your styling comb and pull up a section from the top of your ponytail. Using your comb, take the section from straight across, so you are left with a small section of hair from the ponytail and the rest of your hair is still hanging down in the ponytail.
Step 4:
The small section of hair will be used to start the braid, so separate this into 3 equal sections and begin to braid a three strand braid. Only start it off here as you will be adding more sections in the next step…
Step 5:
Now, listen up carefully! This technique is very similar to a fishtail braid, so if you’re already familiar with that you will most probably find this easy! If not, well then you should still find it easy too.
The trick with this technique is when you are adding sections to the braid you pull them down and straight, leaving it all quite loose. You do not, I repeat, do not add a section and curve them in to the braid to create a neat and tight braid, trust me, there is method to the madness!
Step 6:
So now you have been briefed you can begin to add sections to your boney braid. Start taking the section from the right side of where you have started off your three strand braid, remember to pull down when you are adding the section into the braid. Continue this to the ends of the hair.

Possible V-Day mani and Konad tutorial

Steps :
I decided to do a tutorial on nail stamping, since I have had a few request. This is the mani that I did. For this I used China Glaze Naughty and Nice as the base. Then for the red/pink lip image, I used Sally Hansen Color Quick pen in Red Chrome, Silver lips are China Glaze Millenium, and the tips are OPI Lincoln Park After Dark Matte.
I get all my items together first
This is the image plate I'm using
Once you choose the image, you take your polish and and cover the image.
Then with your scraper, you scrape over the image, removing the excess polish
Then with your stamper, you place the rubber part and press, transferring the image to your stamper
Excuse the pup hair, I didn't remove it before I took the pic, eeek
Finally, all you do, is place the stamper above your nail, where you want the image to appear on your nail, and in a rolling motion, press it onto your nail.
The best tip for stamping, is to only use 100% acetone. After you stamp, wipe the scraper and stamper onto a cotton ball/pad, that has been soaked in acetone. I use a green coaster, and pre-soak the cotton pad in acetone, and set it onto the coaster. Then after I scrape, I swipe the scraper onto the pad, removing the polish, and then after I stamp, I wipe the stamper on the pad as well. You should also clean the image plate in between each stamp. Although I'm guilty of not doing this, lol. Oh and you do need to work fairly quick, because the polish, since being so thin on your stamper, dries quick.

Here I did the rest of my nails, and then did it over again with China Glaze Millenium.
Once I'm done, I take my mani double pointed q-tips, dip them in acetone, and clean up the excess polish from stamping, around my nails. I then do a coat of SV, and TADA
Last of all, I added tips in OPI Lincoln Park After Dark Matte
